Mirto y ajenjo en la poesía romana

En este trabajo se analizan las características literarias y los valores simbólicos que los autores antiguos, sobre todo romanos, les han asignado a las flores en general y al mirto en concreto, para después abordar el simbolismo del ajenjo, bastante menos fecundo en la poesía. Finalmente se hace especial hincapié en Ovidio, pues en él se produciría por primera vez la intencionada oposición entre una y otra planta.The purpose of this paper is to analyze the literary traits and the symbolic values that ancient authors, especially Roman authors, gave to flowers in general and to mirtle in particular. La autobiografía poética en Roma: un caso singular (Ov.Trist.4.10)

Con este trabajo pretendemos incidir en algunos aspectos literarios que la crítica ha dejado habitualmente de lado a la hora de analizar Tristia 4.10, tales como, por ejemplo, su particularidad argumental y formal, tan cercana al género biográfico –sobre todo a las vidas de poetas–, o la importancia de ubicarla en el conjunto de elegías que conforman Tristia. Estos aspectos la erigen probablemente como la primera autobiografía poética de la literatura romana.The purpose of this paper is to focus on various literary aspects routinely ignored by critics in the analysis of Tristia 4.10, such as, for example, its argumental and formal particularity, with characteristics quite nearly those of the genre of bigraphy –mainly the lives of poets–, or the importance of understanding its place among the collection of elegies that constitute Tristia. these aspects probably make it the first poetic autobiography in roman literature

Proverbios y sentencias en Historia Apollonii Regis Tyri

The Story of Apollonius King of Tyre is an anonymous account from the 5th or 6th century A.D., often considered as pertaining to the adventure genre. It is not a work of high literary quality: on the contrary, the Latin used is rather poor and full of repetitions and inconsistencies. However, this novella greatly influenced subsequent literature, perhaps owing to its popular nature which gives it a certain degree of timelessness. The proverbs included in the book are further evidence of such popularity. We believe their study provides interesting information and sheds some light on some of the questions surrounding this literary work

En este trabajo se analiza qué era una liburna para los antiguos griegos y romanos. Se ofrece asimismo una breve historia de la flota romana con el fin de valorar el papel que en ella desempeñó este tipo de barco, incidiendo sobre todo en época imperial.This study analyzes what the ancient Greeks and Romans refered to as a liburna. Diosas de la mitología griega: una experiencia en clase

Con motivo del Día de la Mujer, el 8 de marzo, se suelen realizar determinadas actividades en los centros educativos, entre ellas hablar de la situación de la mujer en la Antigüedad y compararla con la de la mujer actual1. Esto es algo que, además de interesante, induce a los alumnos a reflexionar sobre los cambios que se han producido y los que se deberían producir. No obstante, el tema de la mujer en la mitología grecorromana queda relegado a algo meramente anecdótico, como si ésta fuera tan sólo una sucesión de historias, a veces sin sentido aparente. Mas en realidad la mitología se presenta como el espejo de la sociedad que la ha creado. Si bien en la mayoría de culturas antiguas la mujer ocupaba un segundo plano, sorprende cómo muchas de las diosas de la mitología ejercen un papel determinante en la vida de los griegos... o al menos así parece a primera vista
